This topic has been discussed recently, but here is a cool Grand Champion dashboard to see how riders would have rated, courtesy of PulpMX’s Clinton Fowler. A few surprising results in there:

So weird how we had years of "THE GUY" where the winner was winning indoors and out and no we're seemingly back to the 90s, where it's almost like we have SX specialists. We don't, and they aren't, but the results haven't matched up either.

I don't think we have SX specialists now... I just think we have some people who actually try in the Nationals.

Interesting that someone took the time. Revealing.

There are flaws, like an East/ West and separate 250 class. Supposedly not a Premier class. Also the points system is flawed vs. scoring of moto position.

You can filter out the 125/ 250 class….

Champs since 2000 would have been RC x6, Reed x 2, Vilo x4, Dunge x 4, Roczen x1 Tomac x3 and Musquin x1.
All deserving, but surprised Stew would have never got it.

Season Champ! The ultimate title IMO. It brings clarity, and deserved recognition. I can't help but wonder how it plays out over the years if we still used moto scores instead of points. (In the reverse Kent Howerton would have another Championship over Tony D. if it had been points like today). I'm not a fan of weighted scoring.

Even with a point system designed for race winning over consistency, Bradshaw lost to Stanton with 9 wins.

Craziest thing in there that I see is that in 1985 Wardy and Lechien would have ended up tied for GNC. I know Ronnie crushed the 125s that year, but surprising nonetheless.
