Naw, did do the Chicken and Taters on the grill though. Did the sweet corn in a pot on the stove. I should do it on the grill next time, it's even better that way.

It's ok to do that in a pinch but I prefer it cooked at least slightly.

Anyone ever try sticking it in the microwave still with the shucks and silk on it? 2.5-3 mins per ear. Better than grilling imo.

Never heard of such a thing. Do you peel the husk back and load it up with butter before nuking?

A friend and I were dove hunting several years ago in a huge sweet corn field. He was telling me how good it was right off the stalk. I thought he was F'n with me but I tried it. I ended up eating a few more ears while we were there. Your right about it being "natures candy".

I never heard of anyone growing avocados anywhere around this area.

I had some great corn with my steak and baker last night. I am not trying avacados but I do have a couple artichokes that are really starting to take off in the garden.

I think avos require a temperate climate. My dad has different varieties that give fruit year around. All have different quality to them. Just wondering.

If I'm boiling it, I put sugar, salt, and butter in the water. So, ya don't need to add butter later, but ya still get the taste. Sometimes I sprinkle some Romano or Parmesan cheese on it, and that's especially good if the corn was grilled.

Leftover corn on the cob cold is great. I always make about 4 or so extra ears of it.

When I lived in Hawaii, I would buy north Shore Sweet Corn on my way home from surfing. Man that was great corn.

Yep I throw it on the grill too, no need for aluminum foil either--good stuff!

The main reason I like it cooked is because we take a butter stick and rub over the ears which melts the butter all over it. That way the salt sticks to it and that's all you need. Good fresh young corn shouldn't need any sugar. It should already be plenty sweet. The white/yellow mixed corn we did up last night was very sweet. I could probably eat 2 dozen ears in one sitting if we cooked that many. Smile
