2018 CRF250R Dying Randomly

So the last two times I have gone to the track I have noticed this. I have a 2018 CRF250R. It is just now coming up on 38 hours. I have done oil and air filter maintenance properly. On the first start up, the bike starts fine, but when I went to give it throttle to rev it up, it died. Started it right back up fine, and it revved up fine that time. Then later on in the day, I pulled off the track into the in field to watch riders do a section, put the bike in neutral and let it idle. It idled fine for about a minute then just died. This happened my previous week of riding as well. This is the first two times it has happened ever. Any ideas why this might be happening?

Moisture in the kill/mode switch is the most common issue on these bike. You can usually see some moisture in the buttons if you look close.

Okay thank you. how exactly would I fix that? Would it require me putting a new one in? Wouldnt it happen while riding too though if that were the cause?

The ones I have seen are intermittent and depends how much you like spraying the assembly when washing. It could be something else but that’s where I would start. Look for moisture in the buttons.

Easiest to replace, but you can disassemble it, blow it dry, smear a light film of dielectric grease on the circuit board and snap it back together then run some silicon around the seam.
