Hi all so my 2017 beta 300rr is not charging the battery so my electric start will not work. Can’t seem to find the problem, I’ve replaced the regulator (not sure if the regulator is also a rectifier as headlight is running off AC?) and the battery and it’s still not charging. I’ve replaced the diode with no joy.
So when I charge the battery and put it on, my electric start does work and while the bike is running all my lights work as they should.
Has anyone any clue as to what the problem might be as not sure what else to try...? Any help at all greatly appreciated ! Thanks

This sounds like a defective battery. It could have a cell that is shorting out when under a load and yet show good voltage without a load.
Have a load test run on the battery.

Its a common fault on a Beta(I know, since I had several of them). Start with the main harness, strip it out from the bike and take tubing off and go through every wire and connector. If there is nothing visible fault on the wires, check also the connector pins and ground points carefully, there is also several crimps(5 wires crimped to one) you may want to re-solder those. If that does not help check the stator.
