Yz 125 2006 rear shock linkage. What year fits

Edited Date/Time 12/29/2020 4:07am
Hi guys. First time posting here but have read up on plenty. so I've recently bought my first mx bike. Unfortunately I don't know much about them and when I got it on a stand and had a proper look round I've found some work that needs doing. The rear shock linkage bearings have gone so I bought a bearing kit but the linkage that the shock bolts to has different bearings. I'm thinking that this part of the linkage has been changed at some point. from a little research it looks like a yz 125 or 250 linkage from 2006 to 2018 will fit my bike. Anyone able to confirm this? Don't want to buy the wrong one and be in the same boat. Or any chance someone could post a pic of theirs so I know what to look out for and see if mine looks different?

Thanks

Getting confused here now. The frame is a 2006 but the rear swing arm, linkage and shock is from an older model. Would a swing arm from a 2001-2004 steel frame fit a 2006? Or is it likely to be from a 2005. I don't know whether to buy a later linkage and fit the bearing kit I have and hope the shock and swing arm fit the linkage or buy a 2001-2004 bearing kit and hope it fits what I have

Look up the part. Number Usually shows what year they fit.

Ah ok. I'll have a look see if there are any part numbers on the swing arm and linkage and try and find out what they are from. Hoping not to have too many problems with this thing. I haven't even rode it yet. Thanks

The 2002-2004 swingarm and linkage will fit. I converted a steel frame YZ to aluminum and the only thing different back there was the dogbone bolt that went through the frame was a different diameter. To convert it, all i needed was the 2006 bolt and sleeve for the dogbone.

Thanks for the replys guys. I've tried the 06 bearing shaft with the washers on the end to see if it will fit the earlier swing arm and it seems to fit ok. The dog bone my be off the 06 anyway as the bearing is the same and when I unbolted it from the linkage it spread out about an inch. It was as though the linkage was too small. I'm surprised it hadn't snapped when tightened. the shocker bearing looks the same on early and later shocks so I've bought a linkage and dog bone from a later model. I'll update if it all fits back together when I receive it

Just in case this helps anyone in the future. I got hold of a 2015 yz 250 linkage and dog bone and it fitted the 2006 frame and the earlier swing arm (2001-2004 maybe) the shock fitted too which was an earlier shock than the 2006 frame it's fitted to also. Thanks for the input guys
