Hi guys. I wonder if you can help me. My rmz is cutting out when warm. I have determined that its an electrical/sensor problem and so far i have changed the spark plug, cleaned all the electrical connectors out, had valves checked (fine), had my throttle position sensor checked and reset, had my idle set correctly and ive run the bike with the kill switch disabled. I dont think its the tip over sensor because i spoke to a guy who told me the bike literally would not ride 10 yards.

The bike kicks first kick from cold, after it cuts out kicks up first kick again no problem. There is no loss of power when its riding, idles lovely and sounds perfect on the throttle. If i kick her over and ride straight away i can get 5-10 mins of riding before the problem starts.

Ok so i was going to try the ECT sensor. Apparently the bike will run without one for tedting purposes without causing any damage, will just run a little rich. Will this ECT sensor piss fluid out if i open it? Other option was to replace the wiring loom but obviously i want to exhaust all other avenues first.

Any ideas appreciated

My wife's 2008 rmz250 had the same problem. We got new stator from Suzuki to try. That was the problem. Also we were getting u4.4 from vp ( it is a great product) but bike ran better on pump gas

Check your fuel tank vent tube. If partially clogged it will let enough air in to allow fuel flow for a while then it would not be enough with heavy fuel flow of hard riding. Then when it dies and thus reduced fuel flow it will again restart.
The second thing I would check is the ignition coil by doing an OHMs test. If the primary side ohms reading is low then the spark will break down as it heats up from the engine heat. When the engine dies and the heat is reduced the coil will again work until hot again.
The last thing would be to test the stator.

I know this is an old thread but did you ever figure out the issue?
Thanks!

Hi, I've since moved the bike on but it was the stator that was causing the issues.
