Technical Touch WP to KYB inserts

Can anyone comment as to how they perform in stock form, right out of the box, (with proper springs for your weight).

I have a 2020.5 Rockstar 450 and am leaning towards this set up, however, as with comp/reb dampening, it may need a tweak and I just want to have info on all this before I go that route.

If not this set up, any others, besides the Cone Valves?

Thanks all-

I believe they come with stock yz450 valving spec. Not sure how they would work on an fc compared to how it does on the yz

I just got a quote for the Mx tech lucky system for my XC. Planning on sending everything out the beginning of January. They get really good reviews and were a reasonable price

My KYB inserts were pretty good from the start, only did 2 clicks on compression so far.
Some break in time was needed.

If going new I’d have Enzo build them to your liking.

I got mine direct from TT and thought they were a tad stiff, but after getting the shock dialed they are bang on. Im 2 clicks softer on comp from their stock setting.

I installed them myself, it took just over an hour and super simple to do. The forks are flat out awesome, why ktms don't come out like this from stock I have no idea. This is my first KTM and I have had Japanese bikes with air forks which I quickly ditched also.

The bike is so simple now, I don't need to do mental gymnastics trying to think about air pressure and how to balance and tune the bike, now I know it has the correct springs front and rear, so now it's just a quick clicker adjustment and I'm done.
The front has so much grip now, it truly is confidence inspiring,

These forks really do like to be ridden hard

I have done 30 hours on the 450sxf now and 1 hour on the KYBs, that's 29 hours of tourettes and 1 hour of happiness

The valving in the cartridge kit is not based on the YZ/YZF forks

Actually the internals (cartridge kit) are based on the KYB forks that came stock on the Kawasaki’s in the early 2010s.
(different spring length and a few other small differences to the YZF)

The valving is specific and tuned for KTM/HSQ and now GG right out the box. When purchased through Technical Touch in Belgium they set the valving, spring rate, preload and oil height based on your ability and style of riding / tracks etc. It should be pretty good right away!

That's not entirely accurate.

Looks like they send out whatever hodge-podge combination of parts they have at the time of filling orders. I've seen some people claim their kit consisted of current YZF parts with the leaf spring mid, others say it's older KX style with leaf spring and 470mm spring. Here in the states, all that I have built from TT USA have been a combo of '14 YZ 250f cartridge with '12 KX 450 base valve and the 497mm spring.

Ah that is interesting. I wasn’t aware of that!

I have a set of KYB inserts direct from TT in Belgium which come with the 470mm spring.

I then went to order another set but they were out of stock for 6 months or so (last winter)

So after speaking to the technician at TT he told me to buy a used set of KYB KX450 forks (2010-2012 i believe) and that the inserts would be the same as what they use. All I needed to purchase was their billet feet, bottoming cones and factory spring collars.

So now I have 2 sets the same, one direct from TT and the other built with 2012 KX 450 inserts.

Should be able to find all the info on their website. I dealt with Appie who was very helpful.

Every "Factory Kit" fork I have worked on has been based off the '11-'12 KX fork so I was surprised when my conversion kits came different. I do prefer the leaf spring type MSV so I was a little let down but everything can be interchanged if need be. I assume since Jbone is in the states he would get the kit similar to what I have received.
