Is it weird that my bike still runs even though my stator looks fried? Thus this means that my problem (bike hard to start) doesn't have to do with the stator?

Your bike is fuel injected so if it's still running than the stator is working to some extent and creating enough power to run the fuel pump. Hard to start is typically valve clearance issue.

You need to test the stator. The hard starting could be valves or something else. Understand that the bike is 5 years old and needs attention and maintenance.
