I got the flywheel puller in last week and finally had a chance to get the cases split.

The damage to the gears is impressive. Both in how badly damaged the 1 pair of gears are (missing a combined 10-15 teeth), and in how everything else in there seems to actually be in good shape. It was clearly run with the gears broken for a long time.

Next week, I hope to get the 5 spd trans pulled from the donor lower end.

Made it over to my dad's place again this weekend to measure up the piston and cylinder.

Bad news - confirmed that it is on the 2nd overbore.

Good(ish) news - the bore is nice and straight at around 0.003" clearance and the scarring from the seizure isn't too deep.

Can't find a larger overbore in North America (though I possibly have a line on one from Australia as an emergency back up) so we are going to see if we can clean it up a little, throw some new rings on it, and run it.

While I wait for the rings along with some gaskets and seals to come in to start the rebuild, I decided to start doing a little work on the chassis.

First up: rear wheel.

Still has what I believe is the original Spanish made Pirelli tire.

Apparently after 40+ years the bead had become really fond of the rim. I tried multiple methods to break it free (some that I am less proud of than others)...

Finally got it off and soaked the spokes with penetrating oil in hopes to get them all out in one piece.

Unfortunately a couple of them didn't make it out in one piece, but it is now all stripped and ready to be cleaned, hub painted, new bearings, and all hung back together with some fresh Michelin rubber!

I had the red tank 200 along time ago and the pleasure of running a tank of gas thru the same 200 you have at a SMOG ride
. Total hoot to ride. Enjoy!
