Hi!

Currently building a KX125 and want to put a newer shock on it. I’ve heard some 250F shocks fit but unsure which year to go for. Any help would be appreciated

Not worth it. Kxf shock is longer and if you shorten it you will lose wheel travel. Maybe if you use a different linkage arm I've heard that.

Gonna stir the pot a bit. I saw this on Instagram so it must be true.... this guy mounted an 04 kx125 rear shock on a 03 kx125 by re-drilling the clevis location. I know they're a lot more differences between a kx shock and a kxf shock but could this be a solution? I think the difference between a kxf and a kx rear shock is about 35mm? So if you move the mounting location on the clevis and lose 10-15mm of shock travel with a shim you'll only lose about an inch of travel I think.

I think the hardest part of trying this conversion is not having a bunch of rear shocks at you disposal to measure.

@DB97 I'm sure you've done your homework and have thought of every possible option.

I've heard of people doing it to make an 04-05 kx shock fit yes. I'm not sure how hard it is just to swap the clevis to the right one? Are you wanting to add an a kit kxf shock?

I would love to add an A-Kit shock to my 03 kx. Finding an A-Kit 2T shock is a not impossible, just costly and its pretty easy to find a cheaper A-Kit 250/450 shock.

So yes, I would like to add an A-kit 250/450 shock to my kx.

Hmm not sure since the 03 has the stubby clevis and you can't use a longer link arm to compensate. I have a kx a kit shock but yeah I have about 2500 into it lol.

Another thing is I'm using kxf internals but the difference in shock length comes from the shock body. The kx a kit body is shorter then the kxf one.
