Honda crf250 2012 start problem

I was doing a top end rebuild on my honda crf250 and after I put everything together it didn˛`t start, so I disassembled it again and when i put it together I forgot to screw the chain tensioner back and it started. Why wouldn`t it started with chain tensioner in place.

Incorrect timing would be my guess

I think timing is set correctly, also I have tried moving by 1 tooth and it still won't start. Is there anything else I can check?
