So, I've been watching a livecast that Deegan was promoting. Think it was Supercross 3.

Here is the deal - I used to play Motocross Madness back in the day. I'm talking 1998 or so. I'm thinking that that was the very first realistic MX game to come out. And certainly, the first that we could play online with our friends.

My question is this....watching the "live" Supercross 3 thing tonight is pretty much the SAME thing that we were doing way back then. How could it not have gotten more realistic by now? I haven't played video/computer games in years, but I did and have assumed that it must be "awesome" by now. But not really much difference from 1998 in my opinion.

My dude Caleb won the first event last week and made some $$$ for his effort.

Round2 - Last night - I'm actually embarrassed to say this but he now holds the dubious distinction of being the first person in Deegan's Esports SX to actually DNF from a mechanical issue. Whilst running in 2nd with 4 laps to go his batteries in his cotrol ran out of juice resulting in a DNF...whaaahahaha...

One of the Online spectators kindly sponsored him $10 for new batteries..

You should listen to Weege's podcast with Kellen Brauer. Its Racer X Exhaust Podcast #92.

Kellen essentially breaks down why MX games have not evolved. The quick takeaway is the company that developed the most realistic experience no longer exists and there isn't enough money in this segment of racing games to justify the resources.

Unlike iRacing in Indycar, Nascar, and Formula 1 where drivers have sim rigs that mimic driving, this would be very difficult in MX. The reason being the inputs from drivers in car racing are very similar to the inputs of driving a real car. (Many use sim rigs and iRacing to train and learn new tracks, etc.) This is just not the case with MX gaming, although I've seen people doing some sick whips with their game controller. hahaha

You really can't judge the game off the live stream. When watching an online match it's nothing like how the game actually plays, its just a glitchy shell of the real thing.

I was thinking the same thing. With all this isolation going on I was going to go buy a PS4 and some MX/SX games. After watching the online gaming I didn't think it was any different to mtx moto trax that Travis Pastrana bought out on the PS2 so I haven't bothered getting it. I might have to go try one out and see what it's like in real life
