For years have struggled getting a boot to fit right. I have always been buying a size or 1.5 bigger to get the width i needed. Heard the Leatt has a wide toe box so thought i would try them out but curious on quality due to the price.

I wear a size 11 and currently in Gearne sg12s and they are not wide enough. I should be in a 9.5 or 10. Have you worn the Leatt's and ridden in them?

Wow, that’s surprising to hear, as the Gearne toe box is pretty roomy for most.

I haven’t tried on a Leatt, but if they are any wider than Gearne’s, they aren’t going to appeal to the majority of riders. There are some who feel the Gearne has too much room on the toe box. Lots of guys love the SIDI boots, but the toe box is too narrow for my feet. Gearne’s fit my feet perfectly !

Hopefully someone can chime in with their experience between the two brands.

Yeah unfortunately i have broken my right foot a few times and it has grown in width. Yeah I am hoping they might be better but who knows. I got a deal on them so you will know how wide they really are if you see them up for sale in the classifieds section in a week or so.

The best way I can think to explain them is that they are exactly like a tech 7 but wider. I really like them and they are comfortable out of the box. Can't comment on durability yet.

What boots did you have last ? Tech 7 ?

Just curious what you think of the support between the Leatt and previous boot.

Hey Shaun, better ride both before making claims of "way better" anything, right? You'd assume though that a $200 boot would be better quality to some degree though, and I'm sure it is, but after riding the Leatt boot for a bunch of hours nothing jumps out at me as being inferior.
To the OP, I went from SG's then to Sidi's for the last 6 years to the Leatts. Just ride the Leatts now. The toe box is slightly roomier that the SG's but the outside dimensions seem smaller. They fit my foot the best of the 3 and I have one ankle that has been broken a few times with some hardware. Sidi's were narrow for me and I upsized because I liked the protection. The one way Velcro at the top makes the boot hug my calf tighter than the others as well and keeps the bushes and dirt out when trail riding.

So you’re telling me you think the craftsmanship/ quality of the Leatt boot is on the same level as the Gearne boot ?

Not what I said, but the feel of the boot is really good, fitting MY foot the best, and at 2/3's the price of the others hard to beat. The long term is really where the higher end boot should prevail, as they get some hours, but I bet many don't ride enough to justify the cost. Could be wrong. I hate buying boots and helmets but won't settle for less in these areas, these work for me.

So this is the 2nd or 3rd forum I 've seen you posting up about Leatt boots. You want some huh?

But it is what I said “Way better QUALITYWink

Like I said, I haven’t tried one on. I’m a Gearne guy for life, I’m not interested in buying the Leatt boots. But I’ll give them credit for jumping in the game with head to toe gear, it’s pretty saturated already. But I do think it looks better than some of the bigger brand stuff.

Can't argue with your testing procedure, seems solidWink Maybe we'll see each other at Bean and see if they can go up and down the hills like the expensive ones? Later

Ill make sure to do a write up in comparisons after i get them and ride with them VS the Sg12. Wasn't trying to get people to argue was trying to get input from people that had them. There is always that one guy that doesn't have them, has not tried them on or rode in them but wants to put in his two cents.

I have the Leatt's and I'm coming of Fox Comp 8 on which I wore a hole in the sole in a year. The Leatt's are very snug around the ankle for the first few rides, the toe box is "average", the overall boot is much slimmer than the Fox. I tried on some SG10, Sidi Crossfire, and Tech 7's in TX last weekend, with a pair of Leatts too, and they are about like the SG10 and Sidi on the outside. If I didn't have the Leatt's I'd probably go with the Gaerne.

The main thing about them is that the height is lower than the other boots. I like this because I'm 5' 6" "tall" and Comp 8's come almost to the back of my knee!! The Leatt's do not and make me feel normal They might feel "short" on you but then again, Ryan Sipes is running them.

This afternoon, I highsided my KTM into a berm and smashed my foot between the hard berm and swingarm (and my upper arm against the top of the berm). My ankle and foot hurt like bastards, but are not broken and I'm walking on the foot right now- in fact, I rode a little more after the shock wore off. Would another boot have done better? Impossible to say. I did feel like they protected my foot pretty good as I hit pretty hard.

Me either, you're much too good for this place. Have you tried one of the $50 sites ?
