Whenever I transported my bikes in a van, I always plug the carb vent hoses with 10p or 8p nails (depending on the size of the vent hoses). I keep a bunch of them in the tool box just for that reason.

Tie a piece of string to your throttle and only remove it when you take all of the nails out at the track. That's your reminder before you go ripping withe the vents sealed shut.

That set-up did wonders for me. I did a few cross country drives in my Econoline E250 & never had any issues.
