Just like the title says! Believe the years for that model are 1982-1984, I might be wrong. Would like a complete bike but willing to get what I can. Any condition, this bike is close to my heart so if you have a lead or know of something please please let me know. Also, hello forum. Longtime creeper first time participant. Gracias!!

That one is an 81. The M5c was used from mid 78-to 80, available in red, or blue. 81 the M5d was introduced with new plastic tank, greatly improved triple clamps, a few minor tweaks, and a coat of green paint. Sadly, the writing was on the wall for the little bike being the new YZinger was introduced in 81 as well, and we all know what happened next. I raced the little Italjets for two seasons, and can honestly say in stock form, they were quicker than the YZinger in a drag race, but far more fragile. Back then they were just shy of 3hp stock, my mod made just over 7. A far cry from what kids have today.

No problem at all. Back then when we were on those, the US importer for those little bikes was Strata International in North Hollywood CA. Our bikes came directly from them, our rep was named Jared. Last I heard they were still in business, but have gotten out of the Italjet gig years ago. I know it's a stretch, but maybe they would know of a "stash" of old minis somewhere, at least worth a call. On a side note, I found an old canceled check Dad had written for two of those in 1980. Delivered to our door via Yellow Freight , 2 new M5c's $656.22. Times sure have changed.....

I grew up on one of those as well. I thought I still had it up at my old mans joint but I went there yesterday to see if I still had it but he told me he put it in scrap metal 3 months ago Sad

I have a good friend who has what you are looking for. The little green M5D has just come out of a long storage and John is in the process of bringing it back to life. John is on Facebook. John Rogers in texas. I'll try to post a link to him. My phone is about to die.

I currently have one of these in my garage along with a jc5d /f
The m5d is not running the engine is now like new after aqua blasting at work 🙂 it’s all ready to build with new seals and bearings, I am trying to work out what piston I need as the one that it came with is damaged and not sure if it’s rite or wrong, once I have the m5d engine running they are both getting a complete overhaul and going back as original as possible within reason money wise 🙈
I am looking at getting the barrel bored to 39.8/ 40mm ish, can anybody tell me exactly what piston should be in these bikes ?
The one I have measures 51 , 12mm pin and 22mm from pin to crown with a slightly rounded top ?



Any help or input much appreciated 👍

Hello Dynamic Matt I realize your post is years old I have an ‘82 Italjet M5D I will be listing on the market soon it’s as brand new as an example can get I purchased from a private business that bought it brand new from dealer and it sat indoors on static display until I acquired it this march it was missing several things including the entire ignition I found the correct Bosch ignition and ran it for it’s very first time on 3/25 I rode around the yard and it runs perfect I have one JC5B L.H. side cover installed because that’s the closest match I could find available as soon as I can find R.H. side cover and I have someone making new tank decals I will be listing it
