Hi all, this is my first post.
I haven’t raced for over 30 years and am about to get back into it in the Veterans class. I have never stopped riding although for the last 30 years it has been road riding.
I’m looking at a mint 2000 CR 250, this thing is like brand new internally and externally. As I’ve just turned a young and fit 49 years old I believe the 2 stroke will be a bit easier to throw around and ride at full capacity. When I race everything was obviously 2 strokes so I do have a love for them.
Would just like to hear some opinions and thoughts from other people on different rides or whatever anyone has to say.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’ve been out of the race for quite some time.

Hi. Welcome. Your story is similar to mine but I last raced in my late 20s. Last summer I picked up a 2003 cr250. I haven't raced again yet but this season. It's really really hot here in south florida. I had 6-7 different year model cr250s over the years. I am a Honda man. Recently I bought a 87 cr500, and a 77 cr125 to restore.

I really like the bike. I had the suspension redone by Race Tech. It makes a lot of difference. I went with a 2 stroke bc thta's all I know. You will like the bike. I was thinking of a newer KTM but realized I could get an older Honda . I'm glad I did. Mine is almost mint condition. One owner before me. It still had the original tire on the front.

Hi Blackbolt22 and thanks. Yeah man, the more I think about the CR the more I want it and the 2 strokes are so easy to work on yourself. Got my track membership today so I’m pumped and can’t wait to hit the dirt again, literally lol. Hey Blackbolt22 I really appreciate the feedback mate👍

Hi paradigm, good points you make.
There will be no championships this time around lol.
I think I will be comfortable with the CR.
Those type of riders are everywhere, they’re even on road track days. Thanks for your input👍

It is amazing how easy it is to go fast on the four strokes. My vet comeback was made in 99 on the YZ400. The biggest benefit was the lack of vibration my hands no longer went numb (reason for quitting). I still love my two strokes but just can’t ride them as fast or as long. For racing if you’re honest with yourself the newer four strokes are the most effective but two strokes still peg the smile factor.
