What's really hard is watching the quality of the posts here drop, the instant the season's over.

This ain't fight club.
I agree. It seems like people get on here just to argue-

i've ridden pro supercross tracks and can tell you it is very difficult. throttle control and concentration are huge factors in it. but weren't you saying yesterday that only riders that do both deserve factory rides? do you argue just to argue?

No, not at all. Do you know what kinda fitness it takes to run an Expert or Pro level 3-hour GNCC type race?

Oh thats right, its only 'trail riding',, my bad..........

So you're saying the average amateur is better than James outdoors? He doesn't have to prove him self outdoors anymore. He's been there and done that. If he was challenged, I'm sure he'd come out on top anyway. I had the chance to ride on both types of tracks and I'd prefer SX only also.

No I wasnt saying an amateur is better than James. Lenny had asked if anyone here could run a 15 minute Supercross, and the answer is obviously no. Its a discipline most guys dont train for and arent prepared for.

Same goes with running a 3-hour scramble. It is NOT that easy to line up and go full-tilt in tight woods for 3 hours. It takes lots of training to get your body used to hours & hours of abuse and not get fatigued. Offroad cant just relax & rest if you want, especially if its a technical track with tight woods, steep drops, rocky creek beds, logs, etc, etc. You just cant take a break and always fighting the terrain, so it requires a different fitness. I can remember when Kiedrowski first tried offroad racing, he admitted upfront he had no clue it was that hard to run 3-hours WFO and it took him a while to adapt.

Now to be fair, I'm sure James could handle a 3 hour trail ride pretty easily, but out there, trying to win the Pro class, he'd likely struggle

I agree, the scramble is difficult, but thats not what James wants to do. If it was, then he'd train and dominate that as well. Thats like basketball fans getting mad at Michael Jordan for not playing on the playground with street players (who are just as talented as pro players). Michael doesnt need to play street ball.

Plus, think of the business aspect of the Scramble versus Supercross. One makes WAY more money than the other. It's that simple.

It really bothers me that people want him to ride outdoors. He's been riding outdoors since he was a toddler! Give him a break. That goes for every rider who wants to do SX only. Let them ride where they want. If you like outdoor racing then you do it.

I'm just sayin.

I dunno, as a fan and someone that has ridden once or twice, I find it much more exciting to watch JS, RC, RV, KW, DV, etc, blow by me at Glen Helen at warp speed than watch those same guys jump triples all day... but that's JMO.

To each his own i guess

Not trying to discount your opinion or start anything but just hafta ask: have you raced scrambles in summer?
I have not...I'm fat AND slow. I can't ride for 15 minutes straight WFO at this point.

but, back to your statement:

You know that kinda goes both ways. I doubt James would be able to complete a humid/hot 3-hour harescramble that thousands of amatuers run on weekends.

You said "complete" a 3 hour harescramble that amateurs run. To say that James wouldn't complete such a race is naive. Would he win a pro race? Probably not unless he trained for it. Then...sure.

What makes SX so difficult? It certainly is difficult, but why. I ask Lenny this question only.

If I was James I'd wanna spank Villopoto like RC spanked him.

Just to let everyone know, what's up.

There is a changing of the guard.
