All this crying about SX only and real men riding MX is funny, how many of you real men could actually ride an AMA SX track at speed for 15 mins?, you can't, that's what the real gripe is all about...NFM

Lenny, I'm sorry to hear he said no. I was hoping to see your gown. I'm sure you would've looked beautiful.

You know that kinda goes both ways. I doubt James would be able to complete a humid/hot 3-hour harescramble that thousands of amatuers run on weekends.

Damn dude, you post the same shit wrapped up in different packages.

Yet nobody admits SX is harder than it appears...

Sure it's hard, but if James decided to do outdoors only, you would flip your views in an instant.

Bullshit, I wouldn't care if James never raced again, you guys knock SX and nobody here has ever ridden 17 rounds of it, or 12 rounds of outdoors, except maybe SH105..

Supercross is plenty hard enough.

What's really hard is watching the quality of the posts here drop, the instant the season's over.

This ain't fight club.

I readily admit its WAY harder than it appears, and James is hands down the best SX racer Ive ever seen in person. (and I started watching SXs in 1977)

Gotta disagree w/ you on this. I'm pretty sure he'd finish just fine.

As far as BL's cry about what everyone posts on here...he is right. Riding at 100% for 15 to 20 minutes on and SX track is not easy. I think the level of conditioning of the current crop of riders in both classes is very high. Does it match the '80's? Don't know.

But, I watch the guys out there today and see how much energy is expended to ride these tracks and see them charge the whole race, including the lappers. Yes, they are in shape.

Is it as tough as the outdoors? IMO, no.

Not trying to discount your opinion or start anything but just hafta ask: have you raced scrambles in summer?

So you're saying the average amateur is better than James outdoors? He doesn't have to prove him self outdoors anymore. He's been there and done that. If he was challenged, I'm sure he'd come out on top anyway. I had the chance to ride on both types of tracks and I'd prefer SX only also.

I'd say that anyone who says Supercross is for pussies hasn't stared down a set of whoops, imagined trying to work through a rhythm section, or even attempted to walk the track.

anyone that says SX is for pussies has never ridin one thats for sure, but give it a rest.

Its not to fresh regergitating the sames takes over and over. If Stewart went outdoors only, youd flip that switch in a second.

You bagged Reed two years ago for going SX only, can you say hypocrit?

Personally I have done both, and I would take SX only over nationals any day of the week.

night time is Bubba time,,,,,, Of course sx is tough Len. If it weren't everyone would be doing it. My problem with James doing sx only is that Ricky at least gave him 30 chances to beat him outdoors. James is takin' his trophy and runnin'.

I agree 100%, if you think your fast go blitz them whoops at a decent speed.

No I wasnt saying an amateur is better than James. Lenny had asked if anyone here could run a 15 minute Supercross, and the answer is obviously no. Its a discipline most guys dont train for and arent prepared for.

Same goes with running a 3-hour scramble. It is NOT that easy to line up and go full-tilt in tight woods for 3 hours. It takes lots of training to get your body used to hours & hours of abuse and not get fatigued. Offroad cant just relax & rest if you want, especially if its a technical track with tight woods, steep drops, rocky creek beds, logs, etc, etc. You just cant take a break and always fighting the terrain, so it requires a different fitness. I can remember when Kiedrowski first tried offroad racing, he admitted upfront he had no clue it was that hard to run 3-hours WFO and it took him a while to adapt.

And your right.
However, MX is almost double the time...per moto, in the heat and humidity and on gnarly breaking bumps everywhere.

Henry was completely wasted after he won that one GNCC he ran.

Now to be fair, I'm sure James could handle a 3 hour trail ride pretty easily, but out there, trying to win the Pro class, he'd likely struggle
