Question for you KX125 Gurus:

I’m building a ‘98 KX125. I remember these things being pretty down on power. Are there any other year cylinders that would be a better option? If I remember correctly, ‘98-‘02 should be able to swap, or am I wrong? All input is greatly appreciated!

Eric Gorr's book has a section going over the issues that bike had. Shoot me a PM and I'll take a picture of the page and email it back to you. It's more than I want to type, but the short version is get a 2000 cylinder.
