Hey guys, second build thread here. I heard mxsports come out and say they were going to do the 125 race at all the nationals and I thought it’d be pretty cool to build a 125 for the summer and then sell afterwards, kinda cure the crack addict addiction of working on bikes and also do a really fun one off race. So I’ve flipped many cr125s in the past with a buddy and had great luck and given my wallet, I wanted to do a budget build. I found a pretty solid 05 6 hours from me that already had some motor work by pr2 done to it that I picked up at a solid price. I immediately threw some vforce on it and a Keihin and jetted her up and it ran awesome! Pretty surprised what a port and polish and a few mods could do to the cr. Rode it a few times and started disassembling to see where I was at. Again, budget. No titanium, no suspension coatings, no crazy a60 wheels with carbon hubs, I actually wanted to reuse most of what I had because the bike appeared to be low hour and the motor looked great inside. I haven’t snapped a million pics, but the overall job was to make it look sweet, run crisp and not go overboard. It did have a 47mm twin chamber front end on it which was a nice upgrade over the stock 46kyb that we’re on there that i had no idea about until getting the bike. Pipe was in good shape, had nickel stripped, sanded and heated welds to save $200 on a works pipe. Found a used fmf silencer off a vitard for $40, cut it down and made look new. All the hardware was rezinced, bearings replaced and or cleaned and regreased. My best bud has a vaporblaster so I used that a bit, cerakoted a bunch of stuff and thats kinda where we’re at now. Waiting on tires, those will be mounted and put on the bike tomorrow, and waiting on some fat boy springs to put in the forks, which will also be on tomorrow. I wanted to keep cost down and wasn’t sure about the restyle plastic kit and have a deal through dcor, so I’m going with the geico graphics and seatcover with original 02-07 plastics but a modern crf front fender and number plate as they don’t make Those graphics for the restyle anyhow. Bike will be finished up Tuesday when graphics show up, shakedown ride Wednesday and then off to Unadilla for the 125 race. Again, nothing fancy guys just a real solid clean bike with a bunch of stuff I could do aesthetically that were in the budget! Enjoy. Pics of before, during, and current state.

Also like to give a big shoutout to my best bud Ben Caves, he does a bunch of bike builds and we are always wrenching or doing something and he’s constantly helping me out. He’s got the vaporblaster, cerakote and anything else anyone would need to build a solid bike. He built a 97 carmichael kx replica that I helped with to race at the Unadilla rewind vintage race earlier this year. Here’s a few pics of it finished up!

Absolutely love the look of new gasket's on an engine. Looking fwd to whatever you do with the CR...they're great bike's that just need a few more pony's imo. Your friend's KX could be the centerfold in a moto magazine...it's that good look'n.

95% done. Few small things I need to do. Black stripes on the seat like a geico bike, gas cap overflow hose, cover up the pro taper swingarm decal, front fender arches, debating on a red bar pad and black grips. But otherwise it’s done for the most part, runs great looks good and was a classic budget build nothing fancy. I’ll post photos from the race this weekend.

Nice work, that thing is clean! I like what you did with the coatings, too. What brand of plastic did you use? It looks like it all fits nicely.
