2016 Kx450F Loud Loud Tick.

Hey guys ! New to the forum here hoping for some answers from you lovely people.
Last year i bought a 2016 Kx450f with 16 hours on it. Bike was well taken care of before i owned it. Mid last summer the bike randomly started Ticking in the top end ( or so it sounds ) with 20 hours on it. Kinda parked it for summer and now ive been trying to get it fixed for a month or so now. Ive done all the basics. Changed oil. valves, checked timing. I got lost so i dropped it off at my buddies whos a mechanic, he went through the top end and eveything seems fine so now its back in my hands because he doesnt want to start tearing apart the boittom without really having an idea where this is coming from. Has anyone had a similiar issue? Decompression valve? are those replacable or is it part of the cam?
i have attatched a video to go with this to give you guys a good listen!
Cheers !

Two things id look at before diving deep into the motor.

Timing chain tensioner & excessive valve clearance

What he said, and another easy thing to check is the idle speed, people commonly set the idle too low on fi bikes and you'll hear the decompressor activating if it's too low

Does the noise change when you pull in the clutch lever while running?

My 19 makes this same noise... took it back to Dealer for warranty since it had 18 hours on. They said the top end was worn out, and no possible way that happened... they replaced the whole top end, cylinder and all. Still makes the same noise. When I pull in the clutch the noise gets slightly better?? What’s your thought Paw Paw? I have another 19 that sounds normal...

Ya no difference man. I think it's alot worse than that... Any other ideas ? Worth swapping out the tensioner just to narrow things down ?

Go to harbor freight and get a mechanics stethoscope. They cost like $3. Stick it around your motor while its running and youll hear where that sound is coming from and that will narrow it down quickly.

As a matter of fact i did this not too long ago on a zx10 that had a ticking noise. Owner wanted to put new pistons in and adjust the valves. Turned out the tensioner was bad.

This is exactly what my 2020 sounds like right now. Did you find the issue causing the ticking? Just had a new top end done and valve clearences set but still the same

I did actually... I put my oil filter in backwards.. wore the top of the cam cap so it was the cam slapping up and down. Got a bare head and swapped everything over and all is good.
