So I have had these for about 3 months now 10 hours riding and the front flex control has broken, I know a few people have removed this looking for flex but I like the boots stiff. Being in Australia I'm still trying to find out about warranty or repair but has anyone else seen this ? Also noticed the newest white boots on US racers the last few weeks the piece is all white no black.

That’s because the riders cut theirs out

The pros cut theirs, it’s the same boot we run/buy. The boots have ridges in the leather underneath which makes it look like it still has the piece.

Ok you win. Maybe it’s another updated version.
If your boots look like these then this is the updated version. I have just bought these

As an update the Australian alpinestars brand manager claims since all their sponsored riders cut it out to get more movement it's not valid for warranty

The same happened to my boots. They are 18 months old and they tore on both sides. The distributor in NZ said it is not a defect at first but after inspecting the boots he did say that it might be the rigidity of the first 2019 Tech 10s which they have updated since.

I doubt Alpinestars put that in the boot to fail in 10-20 hours......

Just as an update, the distributor in NZ has requested that we send the boots to them so that they can assess it themselves. I also found this article from Chris Keefer where he explains how rigid and stiff the new tech 10s was before they updated it slightly. My boots are the very first 2019 tech 10s so that could explain why it ripped.

"Alpinestars introduced the new Tech 10 last summer, but since then, the boot has gone through a revision for a less rigid feel. You might of noticed that if you purchased a very early edition of the new Tech 10 (or “version 1.0” like I call it) it was super stiff right? They were so stiff I couldn't feel my brake pedal or shifter for a few days on the bike. I have been putting a ton of time in on the “revised” version of the Tech 10 and wanted to give you guys some thoughts/updates about both the product. "

So I heard back from the NZ distributor today and I am super happy with the support I got. I will keep my 10-year streak on Alpinestars going for a while yet I believe. They also said that they have updated the new Tech 10s to make sure that this type of damage doesn't happen anymore.
