1999 RM 144 anti freeze leak

Is it possible on a 99 RM that water could come up through a stud ? it looked like the small leak was coming out from under one of the head nuts. I could be wrong but before putting on new orings should I pull the studs and make sure they have some sort of sealent on them ? This was the first heat cycle on the new 144. Thanks.

The crush washers under your head nuts arent sealing. Either theyre bad, not tight enough, or the studs are messed up bad. The orings wouldnt be the issue as the coolant flows between the orings.

Those washers under the acorn nuts need replaced every time you take it apart. They are crush type

Crush washers were new and a torque wrench was used, heck I even used the torque wrench on my sprocket bolts, While I ate pizza and took a nap hahaha. anything else I should look for before I try again? Crush washers were not OEM but from a spec bolt kit. Thanks I just took a closer look at the crush washers and one looks to have a little damage from something. I will replace them again and see what happens. thanks

Id go ahead and order oem crush washers. Bolt makes good products, but im willing to bet those you used are banjo bolt washers. Not head nut washers.

crush washers are bagged with the acorn nuts also thicker than banjo bolt washers. but I think I found the problem. thanks for the help guys.

You don't need new washers every time. You can flat sand the washers on some 320 paper and get them flat again.

Make sure that the surface on the head where the crush washers mate is good. You could also put a little 1211 or equivalent on the threads.

one of my crush washers was deformed, I sanded it on a surface plate and the low spot was still visible so I put new ones on. I will give it another heat cycle this week but I think I will be leak free. Thanks guys.
