Love it when a old thread actually gets resurrected with a purpose. Good stuff here guys, keep it coming. My parents never would let my brother and I race when we were kids but we did get to go watch some races on the island and occasionally go ride practice days there. I remember plenty of trick minis from those days and many of the names mentioned here ring some bells. I see Bobby Meche mentioned, he came back and raced some vintage with us in the early to mid 90's. Kevin Jones hauled serious ass back then. Jerry LeBlanc, Wayne Boswell, Bobby Guidry, Kelly Donaldson, Chris Serres, Greg Bonin….Nederland, Pt. Neches, Pt Arthur had it going on.

Yes I did # 42 as Junior Bush back then ( Allen Bush Jr,)

Great era, great bikes. From '72 up through say, 85, when the next year model was released, just thought there could never be anything better than the last one. Some many big steps in MX development.

Loved that track. Came across a link to the Gulf Coast Motorcycle news from 70s. All the results from Pleasure Island. I raced Barry Myers once in picture from above. Came in second in first moto. Second moto forgot to turn on my fuel valve and ran out of gas before first turn. Worked my way up to second for second overall. My last motocross race.
Did do road racing later on.
