You definitely gain an entirely new respect for someone you race against your entire career and these two did it their way and killed it from day 1 till now. Good question Clutchy.

I think the most mains we did in a season was 72 over 18 rounds. Talk about a marathon! Like I tell people today when they ask about AX, real men rode both classes.

For me I always wanted to beat a guy named Timmy Aston in the 80 intermidiate class in No Cali, His bikes where bubble gum and bailing wired together and he flat smoked. I only beat Him a couple times, Like literally twice...lol. The Guy was tough as Nails.. God speed Timmy

when i ventured down to the southbay SJ are it was jerome hieberger and larry wosick. my dad always liked to go everywhere back then as some riders stayed put where they were from

once again there was a guy named macdannald that could beat all of us at will. he would kill you in a corner to pass you and then motor away. saw him go by magoo on a yz125 at magoos home track like he was standing still. not many people remember that. too bad he "shot his wad" as gman would say when he got hurt and almost died.

It was apparent in the beggining of the second moto that the other riders weren't going to give Klassen another runaway as Bob Myers and Jerome Heiberger grabbed the lead out of turn one and began to duel for the front.

Myers got the lead with Heiberger hot on his tail. Klassen and Duane Joice fought for t hird. Myers began to build up a lead when Heiberger crashed on lap two, putting Klassen in second and charging after Myers, Klassen gained steadily until the fifth lap when he got by Myers in the back section to take over the lead.

On the last lap it was Klassen in front with Myers keeping close behind and when they went around a corner out in back, Myers saw his chance "and freaking blew by" a surprised Klassen, Who hadnt realized Myers could do that!!! Myers in front Klassen second Duane Joice third and Jim Turner very close fourth..

P.S Arnold Plant was cooool as hell and showy, but seriously was he tough competition for you.. sheesh you getting soft...LOL I mean hey remember that time when Arnold and Don Cody wheeled past you for the win at plymouth... Yeah I dont think so...lol
