If you could genetically engineer your own personal rider who would it be and for what class.
I'll take the obvious way out for the modern 450 class
The determination and fitness of RC, along with the "save it from the big crash" genes. The speed of Stewart. The decision making of The King along with some line selection from the Windam gene pool. The Supercross consistency of Reed. The smoothness of Bayle.
There...my own personal motocross test tube baby. I don't think anyone can beat that.

This "retire from mx at the ripe old age of 22" bullshit will be laughed at in 5 years.
Raise the AMA pro liscense to 21 and all the problems are solved.
Can you imagine the day when over 50 guys (out of 250 billion on planet earth) show up for a 450 sx or mx?
Just saying.

mxdad, I think what you are saying is that the sport needs to take a step back to take a step forward? It is true that older riders get hurt less from what I see. I think the difference from now and then are in a few different areas that created this longevity. Speed, Jumps, Power, Science (training is a science now, as well as the previsous 3,) and age does matter but the reason why people retire at 22 is because their bodies don't hold up through the abuse that their minds put them through.
Thats why I had RC as save the big crash genes, but there are some that either get lucky and save the crash or just don't get hurt because of their toughness (depending on how you look at it.)
Yeah...that's what I'd do...
Thanks for pointing that out.
