So this is my starting point. 2004 cr125. Bike has obviously been very neglected and abused. All sorts of rust on it, and zero compression just to name a couple of things.

Began tearing the bike down. Almost every bolt on this thing is was loose, missing, or broken off.

Rims, hubs, and clamps are going to powder. Misc brake components are going to cerakote.

This is basically where I’m at so far. Bike torn down and cleaning and inspecting all parts. Currently waiting on things to be coated and for all new bearings to show up. Ready to start on assembly ?

in the first pics I was thinking it didn't look bad, but then when you showed the up close I could see what you meant by neglect lol. cant wait to see the finished product!

Building the bike for a buddy. Going to be a semi-budget build,nothing too fancy. Goal is to have everything as clean as possible and in like new working order. May have a few trick parts here and there, will just have to see how it goes. Currently waiting for parts to come back from coating before I can start on assembly.

Looks awesome. I have a similar project going myself. What are you using to get everything so clean? I’ve struggled to make some of my parts look like that, and what you have done is pretty much exactly what I’m going for

Emory cloth, 3M scotchbrite pads, aluminum brighter(acid), and a lot of elbow grease lol.

So I’m still waiting for powder coat to come back. I received my steering stem, swingarm, and linkage bearings, but they sent the wrong ones so I’m havibg to exchange those. While I’m waiting I’m just finding little bits and pieces to clean. The bike came with a full FMF exhaust so we’re going to just run that. I’m going to send the pipe off the be repaired and remove the nickel plating. I’m cleaning an repacking the silencer and decided to give it a little treatment while I was at it. I like the way it turned out. Somthing a little different I think.

Those 04 cr125’s can get big hp would you believe. handy having a cable power valve. Well over 40hp.

Want to swap for a built 99 Hpp engine haha

A bit of porting. Aftermarket ignitec ignition to tune power valve, carb powerjet and timing. Modern pipe design and modify your header manifold. Vforce Reed. 2 piece head with modern chamber insert with .7mm squish and R7376 plug. Leaded fuel. ISO your tranny, ceramic bearings, Teflon coated main seals.

I have an ‘04 CR125. It has a Tom Morgan ported 134cc cylinder and modified head. It runs really well! I am interested in the Ignitec ignition you mentioned. I have never heard of them. Where would I go to get one of these, or is it a stoc ignition that is re-mapped?

There’s an English button on the side. Used in 2 stroke roadracing a lot. Way cheaper than a vertex cdi or zeeltec. You’ll be able to program it off your computer and you can drive everything, TPS, powerjet, power valve, timing.

What are you using to bring the aluminum parts back? i'm i a very similar process on an 01' CR 125 and using SOS/scotch brite but it is very time consuming. Any input?
