I don't know, I saw something different. James definitely had a 2.5 to 3 second gap "before" Chad went off the track - hardly wheel to wheel, bar-banging racing at that point. Check the youtube clip at 5:50. Great race!

I don't know... I couldn't see the scrolling thing across the top very well, but I could have sworn it said .5 seconds behind leader just before RC and Emig were like "whoa Reed messed up"...but it was so blury that it could easily have been 3.5.

But even so, in this sport, I don't consider anything less than 5 seconds a "comfortable" or "significant" lead.

A three second gap "looks" like the riders are a long ways apart..but only because they are going so fast...

RC in the booth "I think stewart is going to have to make an agressive pass to get by!"


when the pass finally happened it looked like reed was ready to go backwards and stewart was ready to go forward!

At 3:11/6 laps to go in the clip James is 0.330 ahead.

At 4:12/5 laps to go in the clip James is 0.846 ahead.

At 4:53/4 laps to go in the clip James is 1.367 ahead.

At 5:53/3 laps to go James is 2.483 ahead. (this is where RC and Emig said "whoa!")

All of that was before Reed went off the track.

James is worried that he will make more mistakes in the remaining races so he was try to push Reed into making a big mistake and finishing further back than 2nd place.

Its easier for Reed to finish 2nd than it is for Bubba to win all of the last races and win by 1 point.

Reed is in Stewarts head.....and Bubba can crack under pressure!

Yup Bubba came close when he tried to clear the rut and his back tire kicked out. Good racing for sure, it cracks me up when someone who doesn't even ride acts like an expert, pretty amazing, props to Chad for hanging in that long. I would say it's 50/50 for both on the championship. Good stuff.

There's no question that television distorts everything it covers, and there's no substitute for real-life experience. Even the supposed advantage of being able to "zoom in" closer than the eye can see entails a tradeoff in perceiving the "whole." But if we limited moto-board opinions to real-life experience, there wouldn't be very many posts... I'll let y'all decide if that would be good or bad...

So just to quiet the hype.............this win was "STRAIGHT UP" right?

I mean it doesn't get anymore clear than that race does it?

Good race by both and this sure has turned into an exciting season that was once deemed boring

Every race is straight up. Everyone leaves the gate at the same time and the first to the checkered flag wins. Straight up.

Everything that happens in between is all part of racing.

Everything that happens in between is all part of racing.
What I menat is that they both got out of the gate cleanand were able to race each other w/o having ot pass multiple riders and there shouldn't be any excuses as to who won the race "straight up" w/o any interference or bad starts etc.

Basically what both #7 and #22 fans have been asking for

From seeing the video, it looks like Reed is the one that started the bumping. That first pass by James was as clean as it gets, then Reed tries to block James in the following corner and looks like he made contact with James(which I think might have pissed James off)

Anyone that was there, what happened in the corner at about the 2:15 mark of the video? Right before they go over the triple. You can't see it on the video, but it looks like Reed might have really got into James. Notice how James barely makes the triple and Reed over jumps it?

I was there as well, on the floor and in the stands. He was most definitely toying with him. No doubt about it, no way to argue that he wasnt. He slowed down twice just to stand him up in the corner. Unfortunately for Reed, he cannot run that pace the entire 20 laps. Stewart can!!! Period. Im just hoping that Reed doesnt do anything stupid or embarass himself in retaliation.
