Take away the US and the MXDN is nothing but another race for the MXGP serious, it's basically the world vs the US & the US happens to spend the majority of their time racing Supercross as that's where the $$$$ is found like it or not.
It just so happens that the US in the past was so much better than the Euro's and rest of the world that they could dominate MXDN bringing SX specialist such as McGrath in the past.
As long as the US continues to race in the MXDN against 100% motocross riders and the US riders spend 75% of their time prepping and racing SX (many riders don't even race the MX series at all or are done with it 1/2 thru with a so called "injury" by July) then SX will be in the conversation b/c the US is a Supercross , not Motocross based team.
If there was a team that was majority Endurocross racing in the MXDN and competitive then Endurocross would be noted as that country would be known for Endurocross and if they could also podium in MX at the MXDN then that would be a topic too just as the US is more of a SX based team but can still compete in MX though not dominate as they did in the 80's, 90's , 2000's and 2010 and 20111 (plus nearly win in 2016 and podium all but 2017) - all while ALL US MXDN team members except for Covington last year are SX majority riders. If you are upset that US riders sometimes or always beat your home country in MX though the US riders are SX based then that's no reason to ban SX talk.
Though the US will likely not win the MXDN hopefully they can remain relevant and pull of class wins, moto wins at times all while being based mostly in SX which begins in just 6 days at the MEC cup which sadly the majority of SX moto fans will pay to be spectators of SX races, not MX races, yes that's not a good thing most here will agree for the US and moto but SX is reality as that's where the TV contracts, sponsors and larger venues are all found and $$$ talks.
Since the US does still race the MXDN though all riders are heavily SX based, why can't the top MXDN riders ride a true SX race? Lets see some equality for all of those that put down SX. Maybe SX has ruined US moto to most hard care fans but it is what it is. At least Tim G attempted the MEC last year.
