Went to bed about 1am last night. At about 3:30am I was in between a state of sleep and awake-very weird. I felt weird sensations through my body-a real doom sensation that I was dying. I felt weird body sensations in my head, shivers through my body and tingling in my head. It was so scary. I felt like I was getting out of bed and would just fall to the ground like I was too drugged up to do anything. I finally woke myself up even though my body wanted to stay asleep. It was one of the most weird and terrifying experiences I have had. I still don't know what the fuck was going on. I thought I was dying. I don't even know if it was a bad dream-didn't feel like it. Felt different than a nightmare. Just very weird. Anyone have any similar experiences?

For a while I would have what I thought was a dream where I would be in my bed but feel paralyized. I could look around my bed room, hear the fan going but not be able to move a finger. It was scary as hell. Then I read something about it and it is a fairly common thing that happens to people.
The scary part is that it is not a dream.
Thank goodness it has not happened in a while.

level, you might want to seek help from a professional if this keeps happening and is distressing. It could be something best suited for a psychiatrist. No kidding. I work in the mental health field and this sounds like it could be something serious. Your best bet is to ask a doctor.

It sounds kind of like a lucid dream, in all seriousness. But really, it's likely the tryptamines in your head in transit throughout your brain or something. I'm pretty ignorant, though, when it comes to this kind of thing.

I've had lots of problems with sleep since my accident, I wonder why?. But, more nights then not I have basically what I would describe as a lucid dream. Scary stuff. Often I think I am dreaming. But the dreams are so real I have a hard time differeneting if it really happened or not. Most days, I have to sit and think in the morning about what happened in my dreams. To make sure it wasn't real. I typically take a nap most days after riding. I have very vivid scary dreams in the middle of the day. Several times my roommates have come into my room and I was either screaming or yelling. They said they've had conversations with me, and I have no clue about any of it.

I am not really sure what the best term is. I have really vivid dreams that are scary as hell. I honestly can't tell if I am dreaming or not a lot. I have to sit and think about it later to figure out if its real or not. Usual they are so scary that I just tell myself that it was a dream so I don't have to think about it.

yes sir, that happens to me a couple times a year...... I just chalk it up to too much Budweiser.....

However, several times a year I'll have a dream that comes true a day or two later.

That's weird stuff right there!!

It's never something cool though, just conversations or seeing something weird. That stuff freaks me out a little.. Sitting there while someone else is talking and I remember what they are going to say......Odd!

Why can't I dream the damn lotto numbers?

I've had similar experiences. Those that I had to shake myself awake from. It can be a bit unnerving. I don't have them often enough to say when the last time was, but definitely had that happen.

Are you taking effexor by chance? I took that crap for about three months on a doctor's advice. Talk about bad dreams and weird feelings. I will never take another antidepressant. I didn't even need the stuff, had just sold a business and was going through a perfectly normal transition in life that had some uncomfortableness to it. Doc was convinced I suffered from depression and hooked me right up. Never again.

Try combining Quaaludes and LSD. That should do it.

I take lexapro and valium but have been for a long-long time. I took xanax for about a week recently on top of my valium-real low dose of it and been off for 4 days when the dream happened. I thought maybe I was having withdrawals from the xanax so I woke up and took a half a klonopin because I didn't want to get the xanax back in my system again in case that was it. Who knows-it was some weird shit. Might be drug related but not sure. I thought it just might be xanax withdrawals even though I was only on them for a short time and a low dose.

Nyquil gives me the coolest dreams. Real intricate, vivid, weird stuff, but never nightmares. And I usually remember lots of them, which normally I don't remember much from dreams.

I can understand this was a bad experience for you. I have not enough knowledge to have an adequate opinion, but I'm a smartass so I give it a try anyway. It could of course be a consequence of your medications. Check out the side effects in the subscribed info. I didn't find anything with Lexapro that could explain this. Xanax has the ability to induce confusion, but you got this after a week not using it? So that is stretching. You don't have any new or other problems with motion or anything? If this continues I would suggest you talk with your Doc about it.

That has happened to me a few times in my life, kind of scary but some how you snap out of it. I had a doctor once tell me its has to do with stress and stuff, who knows.

Years ago, I had a dream that I woke up and could hear people talking outside my window.

When I got out of bed to investigate, my feet came off the floor, and I floated around the room.

I freaked out, woke up (or so I thought) and the whole thing happened again.

This repeated at least five or six times.

When I finally woke up for real, people were talking outside my window, the lighting conditions and the sounds were exactly how they had been in my dream.

I was scared to get out of bed for about ten minutes, expecting to go floating around the room again.

That was some weird shit, and I happy to report that nothing like that has happened to me since.
