Also, I don't understand what the big deal is about them being last years tracks? It's literally impossible to make a track before they build it. Sure, there's track maps. But the real track is almost never like the track map we see. This isn't like madden where the stadiums don't change. You still have a football field that's the same in every stadium across the world. The schedules are put out WAY in advance. It's very easy to produce a football game and release it before the season. It's apples to oranges with this one.
I have no issues playing with a year based accurate roster even if 1 year old. Again, we've never had anything even CLOSE to this authentic. To complain about this is really being picky.
Heck, I'm cool with old rosters and tracks. I'd die for a late 90s track and rider dlc or game.
There are too many variances in bike and gear sponsors year to year. If it was a current roster the bikes and riders would look totally incorrect due to all the changes in teams, sponsors, bike graphics, etc each year. This isn't football where everything is uniform.
This would simply not be an accurate and licensed looking product because most everything shown would be incorrect.
Its best the way it is in my opinion.
I don't get why people keep saying that casing the jumps in the game has no effect and doesn't slow the rider down. You can tell it definatly does slow them down in the vids and if he was racing against some one who can actually play the game correctly he would get destroyed. Really wish that they would put out a vid of an actually good player, but either way this game looks awesome.
One thing I will say though is its scary how slow the AI riders are. I'm assuming they are on slowest setting (goon mode maybe?). Hopefully this is the case and in the higher settings they are much, much better.
Hell I gotta get myself the PS+ subscription just to play with you guys online too, urgh!
What's the AI like in MXGP 3?
Downloading the game today so that it is ready on the release date.
Pit Row
the MXGP games are boring to me, and i think it's because of the physics. nothing in that video showed me anything that looks even remotely fun. slapping the top of every jump face isn't fun. even in MXGP3 the in-air mechanics are so bad that you can over-jump something by 30 feet and not really have any penalty. casing stuff barely slows you down.
Flatout is all excited because of it's attention to authenticity, which i will say looks spot on. but if the game isn't fun (and it doesn't look fun, at all) then it just becomes a grind. i'm still trying to force myself the rest of the way through the MX2 championship on MXGP3 and i probably won't even touch the 450 series. for a long time i thought that i wanted an authentic series with points, qualifiers, etc. the MXGP games give that but to be honest they are insanely boring to get through.
really the saving factor will be the track editor. but i'm worried that much like Supercross Circuit, all the jumps are pre-determined to the ability of the physics. meaning even if you build a rad track, the jumps and sections will have limitations.
i'll wait to get the game to get a real opinion on it, but the last few videos look pretty underwhelming (besides the graphics)
Graphics look really good and I know I'll spend hours just on the track editor alone. Looking forward to creating tracks.
I have very limited time with the MXGP game series so I can't say much about how they play. I only played the first one and couldn't stand the 3rd person view. Rider looked really goofy but a switch to the 1st person view took care of that problem. The game also felt like it played slow. I know their games have improved with each one they've put out but the riders still look goofy.
Give the 450 series a try. I think they're more fun to ride than the 250, at least from what I remember.
Like you I'll be getting it but I have a feeling I'll be putting more time on All Out than MES.
I haven't played any moto games since my short amount of time with MXGP so either way I'm looking forward to playing both games.
Hoping they don't always ride like goons and if they do I'll be out front anyways lol.
prefer it much over the too fast, over scaled MVA Encore series with their just bad AI and exaggerated everything.
But if you hated those two Milestone games you may not like this. Personally, I enjoyed those a lot.
A lot of making a game play realistically is how YOU play. I don't whip a ton, I just try to stay low and ride as realistically as possible.
Go try and race an F1 game on the hardest difficulty. I guarantee you that you won't be running away from the competition assuming you can even get the lead.
I’ve always thought, why doesn’t milestone or MvA bring in a high level player and have the AI reflect the high level players skill level?
The thing is, the AI in MXGP3 hit all the jumps and hit the racing lines pretty decently, but they brake way too early, are slow to get on the gas and sometimes it almost seems like they aren’t full throttle on the straights.
Just for example if you put me in a 3 lap race against the hardest AI in MXGP3 I could probably finish 20-30 seconds ahead.
