Anodizing cast aluminum parts which include all the parts on our bikes, hubs, cases, calipers, brake hangers etc.... all will show a frosty look. Not a nice bright color if you were doing a Red for example. If your using blacks and browns it's ok in the frosty dull matte finish. It's just the nature of the process, and you just need to be aware of what to expect. It's not like fresh machined billet aluminum when anodized.
Also some of the coatings on these components before Jan 17 were a less durable product. There is now a much more wear resistant coating in black, grey that I have used on parts with much better wear life. I haven't heard from any customers that it wore yet, and were 7 months into the year.
My personal suggestion with these coatings for great look and life on parts that are not susseptible to extreme wear are cases, heads, cylinders, valve covers, hubs, clamps, master cylinders, calipers. If you ride in extremely deep ruts every day dragging pegs then calipers will wear just like the factory bikes do.
I would avoid clutch covers, and ignition covers.
I hope this helps answer any questions or thoughts anyone has regarding durability and what the real deal is with all of this.
