Everyone knows he will be second in the championship.

Why risk an injury?

Just ride safe and place second.

I will wait till Anaheim 3 2010 to make anymore judgements. If he doesn't have a win by then his career is over.

Actually what trick says is true. Chad can easily get 2nd and if James has one of his patented season ending crashes he can easily get his 3rd SX title.

I'm not denying that aspect, and agree playing it safe and riding at a safe pace in second is smart for the championship if he can't match and beat JBS. But the statement that second in an AMA championship must be so bad that your career is just straight BS.

True fans know when a rider's career is up...

I can't handle anymore Chad Reed interviews...

"I know I can win"
"I'm going to put my head down and work hard"

I read the RacerX interview this week and just shaked my head.

His interview was a copy paste from last year, year before, year before that, year before the year before that.

I like to see some new kids...

Yeah... I would get rid of the second fastest guy on the planet who has thousands of fans worldwide to get some other guy that is even slower. I know that is what DeCoster has got to be thinking... if we cant have the championship then we definately dont want second!!!

So a fan determines the career of a professional athlete.. what a crock. I understand what your trying to say.. but then what about Ferry, or Millsaps, or Shorty and these guys who consistantly get top 5 or whatever and guys say every year 'i think they'll podium this year'... why is their career not over also then? What is he supposed to say 'oh man, i can't beat stewart, he is just too fast and i'm useless i may as well hang up my boots cos i'm so shit coming second every week'.
With what you've said, the series would have more TV appeal if it where yet another stupid reality show where the rider line up is determined by SMS vote... ffs.

Difference between Reed, Ferry and Milsaps is....Chad EXPECTS to win...and the fans EXPECT him to win too...

Chad was GIVEN two championships with RC and Stewie out those years.

Now the fans want to see him earn one.

Remember Grant Langston EARNING his outdoor championship? I like that type of champion.

Ok well i'll leave you to your oppinion, each to their own. But how you can assume that Ferry, Shorty and Milsaps don't expect to win either is a bit naive, every man out there lines up to win, end of story. It's a shame that fan expectation can be greater than personal expecation, so much so that it determines how your career will turn out.
As i said, each to their own.

It's funny how retards seem to blame Chad for the injuries RC and Stewart got.

He raced who showed up and was GIVEN nothing.

Little Dave there is no doubt that Chad Reed is a fast Supercross rider. However, I bet there is not a single person in this thread or on this board that believes that if Carmichael had not been injured in 04 and Stewart last year, Reed would have won.

No one is blaming Reed for RC and JS's injuries. They are saying that he won because they were gone and they are correct. He has NEVER won when they were healthy because he can't beat them, period.

Also, despite KW being one of my favorite riders, the fact that CR barely beat him last year doesn't say much, since KW is near the end of his career and doesn't have the "fire" to be a champion.

Until the new young kids are taking him out week in week out then his career is far from over. At this point he stands in second place to the 'fastest man on the planet' as you guys like to call him. From CR back to third is a decent gap also.. it is closing slowly with RV and JG coming through, but until they are consistantly dominating Reed there is no reason to assume his career is over at all.

Wasnt Chad riding injured for some of the rounds last year?

Reed had more wins than RC in '03 which was Chad's first year in the big class. I fully expected Chad to beat RC in '04.

I think in 2004 Chad definately had something for RC in supercross, however i doubt CR would have won the championship last year if Stewart was not injured. But one thing i don't agree with is tricks post about Langston earning his championship, Stewart was injured that year outdoors, Langston would not have won it if Stewart was there. Is that not the same situation as Reed's supercross championship last year?

He could go outdoors only and keep running the #1 plate for Suzuki......

I'll root for Alessi and Villopoto to be there too.....but I think Reed could still win himself a title with Stewart on summer vacation

Post a reply to: Chad Reed....not a must win tonight
