only seen him live twice
on tv about a 100 times or so.

if you think it's ho-hum to come off an 8 month layoff and major knee surgery after having won the US Open on one leg, then there were probably 10,000 fans on that first hole that would say you're missing the point

Its Tiger. To say he amazing NOW is missing the point. Off injury or not. Roberts commercial he posted is funny because its so true. None of us mortals can do that. None of his competitors can. For Tiger, it's another day at the office.

Those times you have seen him play live or on TV did he ever once shank it or hit it poorly? I have seen him hit more amazing shots more then often. Torry Pines last year was proof of that.

Of course he hits shots poorly. All golfers do. He just hits it poorly less often than everyone else on the planet.

Seen him shank a drive at Tour Championship here in Houston few years back and he followed it up with quite possible most incredible shot I've ever seen.

and I think that's one of many things that really separates him.

Most everyone hits a crappy shot. The recovery is an impossible shot or a safe shot costing a stroke. But, Tiger goes and does the impossible shot over and over. I think the more unlikely/difficult the shot is to hit, the more likely it is that Tiger will hit it.

That's kind of the icing on his cake. Of course, he hits longer and straighter and finishes with amazing putts on regular basis. But, it's pulling it out when it "can't be done" that sets him apart.

Really reminds me of RC in the way he competes.

I do believe that Tiger is the best player ever, but I am sick of hearing everything about "TIGER". You know it's bad when the Golf Channel converted over to the "Tiger Channel" and even put up a countdown until he tees off! I was actually hoping that he got beat first round so that the other players would get some coverage. Jeez! Enough already!

the competitive drive is what sets him apart.

Sometimes he flat out wills the ball in the hole

and the comparison to RC is spot on

I don't know about best EVER as there's a few fellas named Hogan, Nicklaus, Nelson that were just as tenacious. I feel same way how so many slob all over JBS, same thing, best of their era be it mx, glof, baseball, etc no doubt but a great champion is a great champion period. And that's part of the joy as it gives us something to argue over that "our" guy was/is better than "yours"
