1986 CR250R Resto

Picked this 250 up, "almost complete"
First thing to fix was a crack in the water jacket


Next up, fresh powder on the frame



Lots of cleaning later. (As well as all new bearings in the swingarm, shock, linkage pivots both wheels, steering)
Lots of cleaning on the plastic.


More pics to come.
Other things that I've run into are both rims were cracked and dented.
The front caliper had wooden dowels in place of the pistons.
The newest wall that I've run into is the pipe that came with the bike isn't correct, so now I'm looking for a replacement.

Looks like a worthy project. Some of these bikes just get hammered and left for dead. Nice to see them resurrected. Got to love stuff like a wooden caliper piston. Great bike. Keep us posted on the progress.

What color did you use for the powder coating?

Not too sure actually, I had the shop that powdered it color match it. I think that its actually too dark of a red compared to stock , but the color has grow on me.
I can ask the shop and let you know.
