I compared the genuine Yamaha 15 guards to these YZF guards, and the bolt holes match. The 3 holes are more or less equidistant. The 2010 holes are not, the space between the outside bolt and the middle bolt is roughly double the space between the middle bolt and the inside bolt.

The new airbox design sucks. Looks cool but the older one is better quality. Less chance for stripping out etc.


Buy a ufo kit and keep your old style airbox. All just opinion obviously.

The UFO front shrouds are slightly tapered in and won't hook your boot in a corner.

My UFO kit on 06 yz125 with Athena 144 kit.

2014 yz 250 project. Here is what i changed, airbox, number plate cycra stadium. Seat cover. 182 main from 178. Down in the rear from 51 to 48. 2015 plastics. Radiator louvers. Arc levers, WC radiator braces. Vforce3 reeds, fmf fatty pipe and powercore 2 silencer. Factory connection upgraded springs and valving. Cr low bars from mika. DiD NON o-ring chain. This thing is a 450 eater. Not top speed wise, but on the track alllllll day.

Those are 05-07 type forks not 2010.looking at the removeable bar mounts (yamaha introduced those in 06) they are most likely 06-07 forks. bike probably is too.lots of people sold older yz's being told they were newer year models as the bikes look very similar.......unless you know what to look for.post a clear pic of the whole right hand side of the bike.

Can't speak for the forks, but VIN looks like an "0" the ten digit, indication 2010 frame at least?

In Europe Yamaha don`t have tenth digit year identification. Not sure why but its a common thing.

06 first year whit bronze andoniced fork cap (05 silver)
07 first year whit fat bar i think
08 first year whit wave break disc but not like yours

I just did the Cycra restyle kit. Had the UFO before and prefer the Cycra. Also not a huge fan of the new airbox. So I'm gonna stick with the old one. Mine is a 2013 and the graphics are for a 2016 from Decal MX.
