According to the ACSM (as I mentioned earlier), a male over 40 and female over 50 that is currently sedentary, should have an EST prior to beginning a vigorous exercise regimen.

The idea is that "working out" before the stress test is what might kill you! Had Paul decided to do this, and perhaps ignored any of his chest discomfort, he might be reading our posts from somewhere above today......way above.
