Hi I'm after some advice me and a few friends are planning a trip to go riding in France this September from the U.K. we plan on going to the loon-plage and sx concept and when trying to break through the language barrier on the website I noticed that you need approved licenses to ride these tracks I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on just what licenses are needed we all have amca licenses would these be ok?? Any input would be brill thanks Nathan.

Hi !

To ride in France you'll need a FFM licence. I think that it's now possible to take a one-day licence but it's pretty expensive. It is 60€ per day or 100€ for two consecutive days. you could find some information on the FFM website but it's in French.

Good luck ! Smile

Just tell them you don't need a license to ride and they'll let you pass Musquin style

Ffm almost mandatory. Full year somewhere around 200€ I think.

I met a Dutch gang at st. Thibery last year, they had not ffm, but rented the whole track.

I managed to ride without ffm there also this year, but that was on a organised training with the ffm-trainer for the French elite riders.

And, saint thibery is a track you don't want to miss!

Yeah seems to be you have to have the ffm the cost isn't bothering me to much it's trying to find someone who can read the website and fill the forms in and maybe make a phone call if needs be. But I'm not giving up yet!!!

You could always contact Chez amis b&b on Facebook. They are swedes running/living in France and arranging mx/enduro trips.

They could probably help with ffm when you are down there. Wink say hi from Alexander Tongue Cheerful

That would be great if they could do that!! Is it possible for the license to be done whilst I'm out there then and not have to be done before I go?? Sorry for all the questions this is confusing lol

I'm not 100% sure but you guys could probably ride in France without french license.. I know some Belgium and German guys who ride our tracks with their own national licenses. Plus, lot of tracks up north near the borders allow foreign riders to ride without FFM license.

When riding on the continent I've just shown my ACU license if anyone has asked, although I've only ever had any bother with licenses and memberships with tracks at home. When racing you have to get a start permission form from the ACU that also includes your insurance.

I've never been asked for a license at Loon plage and only been asked once for one at valkenswaard but no where else in Belgium or the Netherlands.

We didn't have our licenses with us so showed them our British driving license and they accepted it.

Sadly there aren't as many tracks in Belgium as there used to be. Helecine is near where I usually stay, open 6 days a week and cheap. Usually quiet and the track is nice. Honda Park further north is good if you don't mind sand tracks.
