Sorry it's long, but got this morning.Didn't know I signed up....lol
Welcome to the very first edition of the Two Stroke Militia newsletter!
This newsletter will contain updates and supplements to the web site. In
certain cases you will learn about news that is not quite ready to be
published. It's good to be a TSM insider! You will get a glimpse of the
rumors we are investigating before they are published on the web site!
The biggest news of this season comes from Davey Coombs and the DMG (Daytona
Motorsports Group) They have been making some radical changes to the AMA
Motocross Nationals. Of course the one that interests us most is the rule
change that will allow the 250cc class to be a true 250cc class. They are
working on a rule that will allow two-strokes and four-strokes of the same
displacement to compete head-to-head.
If you have not yet read the article on the TSM site please take a few
minutes to read it now.

As you could imagine the mention of this change has caused a great deal of
controversy.
The reality is the technological advances of the 4T's has closed the gap
between the two radically different machines. It is now possible for them to
compete head-to-head using the same displacement. Believe it or not under
certain circumstances the 4T will actually have an advantage. This is a big
change from the way things were in the past.
Please take a few moments to read this comparison from Motocross Action
magazine, to see just how much the gap has narrowed.

Some of the two-stroke faithful have cried foul because this will virtually
eliminate the 125cc machines. While this might be true, the question is,
when were the 125's really competitive with the 250 four-strokes?
Sure you could look back to 2004 when Bubba was killing on the two-stroke,
but that was 5 years ago. In fact in an interview JBS said that it was much
easier to compete on the 250F (which he raced at the last event of the
season that year)
Times have changed, now there are no 125cc two-strokes competing in the Pro
ranks. Why? The 250F's have advanced to a point where a 125cc is just not
competitive.
But there are changes in the wind. Currently the supporters of the
two-stroke are gaining a foothold. There is a shift occurring amongst the
powers that be. While there are many reasons for this shift, the current
high cost of racing tops the list.
The outrageous expense required to be competitive in the four-stroke racing
world, has forced many of racers to stop racing. These are the guys (and
girls) that are the back bone of the sport and actually buy motocross bikes.
The whisperings we hear say that the 250cc fair displacement rule has
already passed! Since I do not have a source that can be quoted, this still
remains a rumor. I will keep you up-to-date with any additional news as soon
as we hear it. But this is very good news indeed.
A few weeks ago we interviewed AJ Waggoner over at Service Honda. In the
interview he talks about some of the new bikes that will be available for
2009. It's a great line-up. Check it out.

Lots on Maico; one actually riding what looks to be a very current model.
Another in attempts to find a U.S. distributor. Dunno how in this mess were in.
Believe it was in Australia. Said they had or were making parts back to '78s and that they were making brand new '81 490s once again.
See it to believe it first of course, but it seems to be a good read.
Former Blue Plate #1 NorCal George Marshall on his '81 490 as well.
Trick looking Husky 125; wish they'd change plastic rad shroud to yellow. Tiny motor. Aluminum frame at least.(think)
Mr. Waggoners interview and bike display was cool and possible future plans intriging.
Have to check this out more in the future since anything new from AJ or overseas is rather cool to see.

Enviros disregard any common sense talk. They've got fudged up numbers they constantly use calling it "scientific evidence" and a huge lobbying effort to take away our right to recreate, race, etc.
One dirt bike is one too many for them.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jeeze
IATK was selling the Maicos for awhile.
I thought the guy making them was in Germany or the UK?
He's doing a 685cc 2stroke, something like that.
Nice site ya got goin thar.............
Off the ATK site.
The #9 bike Andy, the "Intimadator" 700. Maybe give them a call.
