What does the big fella do now? Does he go back to arenacross? Or should he push for a 450 ride?

Would it be worth even trying 450 outdoors?

There was a lot of hype around him and I'm wondering was he injured?

There sure was a lot of hype around him. His biggest issue was him doing the PulpMX Show and hyping himself in the offseason. I think his chick was also on and complained about the lack of a factory ride and that he would win/podium races in 2017.

Nothing wrong with hyping yourself. But be ready for the criticism when you struggle getting into the top 10 in the regional 250 series.

This is one of the few times I don't understand why these guys don't go out and race on their own dime. I'm not saying race the whole series, or even 3-4 in a row. These guys are probably still on the west coast, why not go out and race Hangtown? I highly doubt they don't have a bike to ride, or the means to transport their equipment to the track. Everyone has to do it locally to get to the pro level. I just dont see why a guy who clears 6 figures yearly cant load up a bike, drive a few hours and race for the day. If he gets a top 10-15, maybe he'll get the call.

I agree, Do you think some of these guys think there too good for that?? I think you have hit the nail on the head right there! I think any rider out there making the effort is better than just saying why should I pay to ride I should be payed!

Well he's not going to make 10-15 in any class outdoors. So in that sense he would be actually hurting himself for any future ride consideration. He hasn't raced outdoors in many many years and his fitness was a problem in SX. That will be magnified in outdoors. Best he sits out MX because he will get smoked if he lined up.

Well considering that he and his chick laughed at a 50-60k ride with TLD factory KTM i guess he was closer to 6 figures on the 5150 Yamaha team.

He rode for Monster Kawasaki 450 outdoors last year...

my point exactly, his fitness wasn't up to par in SX so when he goes outdoors he will be 10x worse. good point.

That guy has had a rough patch, couple back surgeries being really sick, I hope he gets it together. But at this time the guy has no ride and zero prospects.

Super nice guy though, I hope something works out for him.

He raced 4 outdoors. That's correct. Those were the first MX races since 2009.

Redbud he got 20th.
Southwick he got 15th.
Spring Creek he got 18th.
Washougal he got 11th.

Average finish was 16th.

That was on a Factory bike and support. Not sure those finishes will be improved by doing it on your own.

I think the problem for a lot of these guys is they have been on factory stuff before and for them to load up and go racing on their own, they know they are not going to perform to their potential with stock or parts that can be bought.

However, when a rider refuses to go out and compete on their own, I think they know that their results will not be good enough to get any attention from teams, and possibly hurting themselves for future rides if they don't perform well.

I think the exception here is Dean Wilson (maybe others) who probably thought, I am confident in my speed and I am going to do this on my own and see what happens. It's better than sitting on the couch and waiting for a fill-in ride.

I think most of these riders don't make enough money off individual sponsors and they need the salary from a team in order to make a living.
