Hi planning on doing a build on a 2008 Crf 450 in the near future and just getting parts and making plans at the minute as the hard part is done and that's finding an ok bike for a ok price.
The trouble is all the aluminium has suffered to varying degrees, the engine cases brake calipers etc I can get vapor blasted for a pretty good deal so it's not worth me messing about with but the frame has suffered.
I've spent a bit of time with wd40 and a ultra fine scotch brite and it's cleaned up the main spars fine and gotten rid of the horrible fading chrome Polish someone has done previously.
However there is a lot of staining that I just cant seem to shift easily and the worst offence is the multiple stone chips and scratches on the frame that a scotch brute won't get rid of.
Now my question is what is the best way to go about cleaning and restoring the frame and swingarm back to the factory flawless brushed satin aluminium, I don't mind spending time and a bit of money to achieve this but not sure how to actually achieve it.
Thanks

Strip then entire bike down to the frame.
Go buy some Eagle One Aluminum wheels cleaner. Spray it on and let it foam up good. Be cautious though, it's pretty gnarly stuff. I don't leave it on for more than a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Spray the cleaner on once again, this time get a green scotch brite pad and hit the really bad areas. Make sure you're wearing rubber gloves. Rinse with water. Repeat as necessary.
As for the deep rock chips, I used a fine emory cloth to remove them.
I hope this helps. I f you have any questions, give me a shout!
