I just picked up my 2017 450sx-f and I noticed the air filter cage has that screen on it under the filter..Does swapping that out with one with no screen make a difference like my buddies off his 2017 250sx?

Exactly, that filter cage is around $13. Do it.

Ironically, the oem twin air filters are cheaper than aftermarket twin air but they are the same lol.

You mean the backfire screen?

You doesnt gain any notible power.. I did it to my KTM 350 17 with full yoshimura exhaust but didnt notice any difference so I let it be in my 450.

If you remove it you should run airfilters that is fire resistant, if you dont you risk to burn your bike down if u got some bad luck.

I noticed a little bit snappier throttle response on my 16 350.

I always remove the backfire screen and run the normal air filters.
