I was going to say to check your in line filter.

Is the gas good?

Maybe injector is dirty, sounds like it's running out of fuel after being on the gas hard?

The gas should be good (2 week old non-ethanol 89). Yeah, I agree. I'm just praying its not an expensive fix.

I'm not sure but I think I've read that a few of these had fuel hoses almost pinched off at the fuel pump and that would cause this. Is the FI light flashing codes?

Ohhh that's a good idea, could be the kinked fuel pump. I swapped mine out.
This photo shows the kink and what it was like in the tank.

This photo shows how it should look.

The previous owner removed the Indicator Light behind the number plate and taped over the connector, I didn't even realize that's where it was located. I have a new one coming in the mail from Rocky Mountain ATV.

I did notice when I was cleaning the bike up after I had the issue the bolt that holds the gas tank on was sitting in the hole with the rubber grommet. It definitely makes sense that it could have shifted and kinked that line. What all is involved with that fix? An entire new fuel pump or just the line?

The tank being loose woundnt kink the line because it's a full internal piece. They get kinked because the line was too short and make a weird bend while being in there. I'm not sure if you can get this cover by KTM, could be work a shot since it was their fault.

It's easy to change, I suppose you could change the line but I'd suggest a whole fuel pump so you know it's secure. They are crimped lines not hose clamps, that could be scary if one ever came loose.

First I'd check it, before buying one. Dump the fuel, there's a bolt you remove where the fuel line comes down and some screws towards the back of the tank where the electronics hook up. Just slide it out.

When you remove the line, you will see a kink in the line like mine or no kink.

Installing the pump isn't hard but annoying. I used safety wire to fish it to the line side from the opening.

It's a shot in the dark but could be problem. Hope this helps!

Makes you wonder if the previous owner removed the fi lights becayse they were flashing a code that would be noticible when selling the bike.

I've wondered the same thing myself. We'll see tonight though, the new one should be in today.
