Dungey isnt lucky? LMAO whatever dude...Dungey is literally the one and ONLY rider who never has any kind of problems! He absolutely NEVER has a mechanical problem what so ever, and if he ever goes down its always in practice or a heat race! Literally every other rider on the track has problems atleast 1 time a year! Yeah Dungey is a great super nice guy, he is very consistent but to say hes not lucky is ignorant as hell! To be honest Dungey isn't even close to the fastest guy out there either! He can't chases guys down like Tomac can, like Roczen can, like Webb can etc... Ryan Dungey is simply BY FAR the most lucky rider on the track, and thats a fact! Dungey has had atleast 2 championships straight up handed to him due to the top guy having bad luck and getting hurt or having bike problems! Sorry, but its the truth and there's no denying it!

As far as Tomac and being able to win the championship! Coming from a diehard Tomac fan, It wont happen...They need to change the damn points system and they know this...they have talked about it for how many years now but instead they go and change it to timed mains instead of lapped! Supercross is honestly turning into the whole Nascar Jimmy Johnson kind of boring thing...Nascar finally got smart and changed the points system and now look how much more exciting the chase is every year! Guys like Villapoto and Dungey make the sport boring as hell! It sucks having the championship decided 2 or 3 weeks before Vegas even comes around! It seems pretty silly that Tomac has 4 or 5 wins and Dungey only has 2 but yet Dungey could sit at home next week and come back still in 1st lol...that makes no sense and needs to change!
Hello, this is my first ever post in the VitalMX forum. I've been lurking here for a few years, but your comment is so dumb I had to set up an account to let you know just how dumb it is. Well done, man.

If I was a bandwagon fan my vagina would hurt too every time someone talked bad about Dungey! Don't matter who the hell it is when the same guy wins year after year its bad for the sport, it takes absolutely every ounce of excitement out of it! Its safe to say Supercross is far from the "biggest" sport and the championship being decided weeks before the championship doesn't help the cause! There's a reason why us sx/mx fans don't get to watch our sport live most of the time! Sorry, I'm not one of those guys that changes who i cheer for every year depending on who's winning! I hated Villapoto not only because he had the personality of a rock, but because he won year after year, I used to like Dungey but have gotten sick of him over the last couple years because he makes the sport boring as hell! Same exact reason a lot of people hate Jimmie Johnson! There is no denying that a points system change is far over due!

I can't believe I'm taking the bait but that's what makes half of these threads entertaining.

So you want a points a chase? When would it take place? After rd 5,10,13?

Resetting the championship points won't really do anything.. More times than not there is always 1 guy that is faster than everyone else. Fans can say "stacked field" or "multiple title contenders" to feel better about what is going to happen but 1 rider always rises to the top with maybe...MAYBE 1 or 2 other guys that can randomly peel off a couple wins.

So reset the points but nothing changes... Whoever is the "guy" that year or has the momentum will continue winning races.

I for one like to see the preparation these guys put in and see who starts off well in the beginning that way we can shuffle out the "I've never felt stronger, faster, healthier etc in my career" crowd that we hear so much about before the season starts.

LOL ...come on dude, it doesn't have to be exactly a chase format but it needs changed! They addressed it a few years back and have talked about changing it but haven't done so yet! Something even as simple as a bigger points spread between places would make it better, and actually give other guys a shot! As an example, You shouldn't be able to finish the season out in 2nd or 3rd every single week and beat a guy with 2 or 3 times more wins than you, only because he had a mechanical issue 1 week of the season! That's just dumb

To answer the OP's question, "What would it take for ET to win the title?,) it would take any of these scenarios:

-Tomac wins out. He wins the title on a points-paying tie and has more SX victories. (This is regardless of where Dungey finishes, even all 2nds.)

-Tomac wins a majority and finishes ahead of Dungey at all times. This one would require at least one instance wherein another rider finishes between them.

-Tomac and Dungey trade wins equally but Dungey has a DNF and scores no points.

I'm not disagreeing that it has to be changed, but how?... Bigger difference from 1st to 2nd and keep everything else the same? I'm just curious as to what you would do. I'm only seeing that you want to setup a points system that penalizes being consistent.... I don't really see how you can screw the consistent guy. The math just doesn't add up.

I think the best thing they can do is let riders drop 1 or 2 races. Only count 15/16 rounds out of the 17. That way the "crashaholics", yard darts, "slow starters(to series) and race", and "arm pump" guys will have a chance to win the title.

I'm shocked that with 8? rounds left and a 24pt lead people are already saying that the title is dungeys and the series needs changing. There is a very good chance that by the end of the year your man will be the one crowned champion.

But then again if people didn't jump to conclusions after each race then where would the bench racing be. haha
