Greets All...
Last rides on a pair of CR125's were at Wicomico, MD. First time riding there. There were a few muddy holes on the trail, and bikes got coated with that shitty sticky silt mud.
I washed them well (I thought) and blew off the water with the trusty compressor. They looked normal after cleanup.
Fast forward to today, doing a clutch on the '07. Ultra fine quartz sand film coating everything. "Micro-Crunchy" is an apt description. The silt shit even appears to soak into paper gaskets.
I checked the US Geological Survey, and yes, quartz sand/silt is the primary composition.
Yeah, I am OCD, but now will have to spend many hours getting that crap off. Tossing the air filters as well.
Anyone else ride Wicomico? How are your bikes holding up?

Indeed an odd sort of dirt...
Problem was that we were covered in silt mud from the trails then had to drive through the very dusty main area to get to the truck. Then had a 1.5 hour ride home, which dried the crap on. I need to invest in a portable rinse source. This mess was my fault in retrospect. Lesson learned - Rinse immediately when riding there.
Got one cleaned up yesterday. Mild Shout mix coupled with a variety of soft brushes did the trick. Pulled the plastic and got the backs/undersides really well too. I like my bikes immaculate when working on them. OCD...
I just think that bikes that see that place regularly lead a tough life. Now back to work getting ready for the spring!

Wicomico is pretty close to Budds Creek so it may be worth the extra 30 minute drive for the better dirt/facilities, the practice days are not nearly as frequent though.
