96 cr125 build

Been needing to ask a lot of questions about my 96 build so I just figured I'd bring everyone along for the build. Bought a mint 96 roller last summer and have been lightly searching for a doner bike/engine bought a roached out 94 more pictures will be available soon!

So couple of questions i got a cool old school pair of what I think are Easton/protaper bars and top clamp really cool looking. I tryed to take them from the 94 to the 96 and the space between the hole where the fork tubes goes is a good half inch smaller on the protaper clamp! So what do you guys think is best put the closer together clamps on my 96 or just run the stop clamps on the 96? What are he benefits to having your forks closer or farther apart like this?

If your really going to ride it I suggest doing 46mm forks off a 97+125 or 96+250. The stock forks are flexy no matter what u do. Steel braided front brake line and crf master cylinder is next for my bike. Once u ride a new bike u realize the difference in braking power. Check out my 95 cr125 build for ideas

The pro taper does have different bar positions and the stock doesn't. Although neither are rubber mounted so no real gain in using the pro taper clamps. I have a set of these on my 96 250 and there is always a little gap on the side of triple so I wouldn't worry about that if that's what ur talking about. Some pics of these clamps on ur bike would be best so I can see what ur running into.

if I take a picture you would be able to see it's impossible to get these clamps on with your buying a bottom clamp I go with it literally a good half inch difference in spacing between the forks. I want to run an aftermarket set of clamps because I'm also doing a 96 250 build and I want them to look like twins but one obviously being a 250 and one a 125

I believe in 95, in an attempt to gain some stability out of the chassis, Honda widened the distance of the forks from each other, so 94 triples & front axle/ spacers will be different. The ultimate solution is to find a complete front end from a more modern bike. I have a 96 250 with a 2008 crf 450 complete front end, brake system & all...depends what you Plan on doing with the bike, that's a nice looking roller, may want to keep it simple & original. I have a set of pro circuit modified 96 250 forks & stock clamps if your interested.

The benefits are being able to move bars more forward & use oversized bars...

I know the benefits for the aftermarket clamps I just didn't know why they were so close together in 94 and farther apart in 96 but that makes sense. I would love to do the newer front end conversion but I'd probably have to buy two sets for my 250 and 125 I'm going for a 96 race bike twins no newer looking parts but the suspension may be a definite must I'll see how bad they are when I ride em.
