I know you can't truly compare apples to apples on this argument because of track conditions, layouts, etc but it makes me think. Everyone is talking about how much worse Webb looks on the bulky Yamaha 450 and he doesn't look like himself.
That being said, looking back at A1 last year when Webb was on the 250 his fastest time in the main (yes track is better than the 450 main but maintenance is done between the two often) was a 1:01.392 while Dungey (who finished second in 450 main) had a fast lap of 1:02.333. Pretty much a full second quicker than Dungey was while on a 250 and yes I know track isn't the same but I really don't think the full 3 second difference (the difference is being a second faster to 2 seconds slower, as shown below) is going to be made up with track condition.
Then you fast forward to this year where Dungey finished second at A1 with a 1:03.111 fast lap time while Coops fastest was a 1:05.052, pretty much a full 2 seconds here. He can't touch Roczens 1:01.859 fastest so I'm not even going to bring that into the equation.
I could be an idiot but I feel sometimes numbers don't lie and any one who knows mx to an extent can tell Webb doesn't ride a 450 on a sx track near as good as he does the arguable best 250 in its class being the Yamaha. And obviously they aren't going to put a Yamaha factory 450 rider on a 250 because that obviously doesn't look good from a marketing and promotion view. But, Noren rides a 250 cuz he feels more comfortable on it, so would Webb's results improve if he was on a 250 as well? Just makes ya think is that Yamaha 450 that bad for him?

You couldn't be more wrong. Noren changed to the 450 long ago and his style suits the 450 much more but in Sweden we don't have supercross so he's using the easier handling 250 to truly learn the ways of the supercross.
The only reason he's racing on a 250 right now is to practice for his 250east effort later in the season and using the 450 class to get comfortable as he can't run the 250 class and still wants to get tracktime and racecraft dailed in.
This will be his second season ever I believe in supercross and he's improved tons since last year. He is a motocross specialist still and will probably always be but the lack of supercross experience is keeping him from getting any rides. He's been top 10 450 outdoors two years in a row and been getting top 5s when he got used to the factory Honda both years. He could be a top 5 threat every weekend if he could just get a solid ride from the start.
As for Webb, he had setup issues. That combined with the huge amount of pressure has gotten to him. He can't use Reedys setup so he has to figure one out himself. He'll get there eventually but this first year he needs to get on with the fact that it's a learning year and he won't be going on the podium any time soon and he'll come out strong next year
He should keep working on his 450 set-up.
Might even order some pizzas. Might take a nap. Doesn't really matter.
It's been TWO (2) races. ONLY 2 races and people are saying all kinds of idiotic things. Would he be faster on a 250 right now? Yes. He ridden it for the past 3-4 years and he is smaller, it fits him better right now.
He isn't going to just hop into this stacked ass 450 class and start kicking ass. He needs to build more strength along with many other things, some things that can't be duplicated at this practice track or gym.
Look at RV's results when he first went to the 450.
Give the kid some time.
