Start Gate - New for 2017?

Does anyone know if they've added an hydraulic ram to help drop/throw the gate down?

I've only seen the first 2 races on TV, but it sounds different than in the past....sounds like there's pressure being released when the gate drops.

I would think if they did, it makes perfect sense after all of the gate issues in the past couple of years with the gate hesitating once the mechanism was released.

Also, this would be very similar to the gate system used in BMX/4X/DS for those not familiar with what I am referring to.

Its a pneumatic actuated gate now.

Speaking of gates. What happened with the mesh behind the gate? That get shut down or was that for mxgp races only? Thought somewhere I heard rumor of mesh starting pads
