No, in retrospect it's probably Shawshank that hillbilly is thinking of. There is a scene in Catch Me If You Can where the Abegnale guy whilst under arrest and being transported on a plane, literally unscrews the toilet somehow, makes his way into the landing gear and escapes on foot as they land... No idea whether that (or a variation of it) really happened in real life though.

Not seen those movies.

Some of the cell block was in on it,he made a deal with hair to fake the guard like he was asleep while he was behind the wall in the crawl space. I also recollect they carried dirt out in trick pants that dumped as they walked the yard.

I'm thinking Alcatraz maybe. Hell,could be 2 or 3 movies running in my brain together.

Now, on Newport TN. This town is like no other that I know.

Popcorn Sutton is buried just up the road in a little community called "parrotsville" ,all streets named after tropical birds.

The kkk is or was strong in newport not long ago with several big marches on the courthouse lawn. If you are Yankee and go there running the mouth someone will shut it. It is a place for sure.

Got its name from the days of barges going down and up the French broad river.

And,back in 79 or 80ish this new bud started appearing from there, afgan it was called. It would spool you up in the corner like a crippled coon. Growing outdoors was big there with tobacco gone and the DEA had choppers going like crazy till someone fired a shoulder rocket and killed 4

Thing was I couldn't figure how they got to growing this killer bud,till mid 90s I was reading my high times mag a story about this guy that went to Afghanistan when Russia was there. He traded guns for 2 kilos of seeds. Came back to new york and they were split between 5 cities,one being Newport.

used to go to the car races at Newport speedway as a kid. I thought it was weird then. has a different vibe to it.
