I was reading posts on the 78-80 CR250's
a few years ago,
Make sure you check chain, lower roller
clearance at full swingarm travel on suspension compress
brake stay arm problems!
A HUGE ISSUE on this BIKE!

Is anyone actually still fabricating aluminium arms for these? I contacted vmx racing about the thor arms " currently NA"
Im also after an aluminium arm for my 250RA project, but they seem to be pretty scarce!

They will be straight, kinda coke bottle inspired. But they will be to our own design and not a copy of anything. We want them to be the finest quality 'arms available. Perfect fit, first time, every time.

I should have something to show you guys tomorrow. My friend who is doing the 3d modelling has been secretive showing me stuff!! haha!
I know UPS picked up a full sized print out of the arm design (not a 3d print, but a design lay out print) on Friday... it's due for delivery tomorrow.. I've only seen a really small screen shot of the axle blocks.. so really excited to see it!!

Guess I may aswell show you the bit I've seen!!

Now this ia NOT to scale. He just layed it over the top of a Rocket picture to see what it looked like!

The plan is hopefully, to make them with the rear axles blocks and shock mounts machined from one piece. The pivot bearing areas and the front half of the "H" bridge, also machined as one. This is so there will be as little welding and fabrication as possible, which should reduce the areas that errors can creep in!! A shock mount can't be welded in the wrong place or miss aligned if the positioning has been machined into the part!!!.... so long as the design/drawings have been done correctly... obviously!

Thanks for posting it and looks very nice! Two questions for you: Will it use different chain adjusters or the stock ones, and will the shock mounts have the clearance to mount FoX Air Shox?. I know the the stock arm the mount had to be modified.

PK, the chain adjusters will be "inboard", with separate axle adjuster blocks, the same way its done on modern bikes. (the adjuster blocks and new wheel spacers will supllied with the arms) To use this design of axle blocks and still retain the original axle the arm will need to be a bit narrower than the originals. This should also help with stiffness amd handling.

The shock mounts should have extra clearence for aftermarket amd modern shocks. The picture (and the print i'll be getting tomorrow) are the first draughts. there will probabaly be a couple of tweaks made before any metal gets cut.
